Math Packets - Students should complete as much of the math packet as they are able and submit it to their math teachers after the Labor Day Holiday. This keeps students' math skills sharp, and helps the teacher know what they will need to work on for the year. Math Packets should be submitted to the students Math teachers after the Labor Day holiday.
Reading Log - Students should read at least 30 minutes a day, record their efforts on the reading log, and submit that log to their Language and Literature teacher after the Labor Day holiday.

    Community Service
Every Obama Academy 6th-10th grade student is expected to take part in community service during their time at the Obama Academy and submit a reflection about how they have grown from their work.
We are instituting a new system this year in which students submit their hours to the IB Office on paper, where it will be recorded and filed, so students can access their entire history of volunteering when they apply for jobs and scholarships.
6th-8th grade students are expected to submit at least 10 hours of service work over the course of the school year
9th-10th grade students are expected to submit at least 20 hours of service over the course of the year.
Copies of the reflection forms can be found in the main office, or printed from the link below.
Community Service that you do over this summer will count towards your yearly service requirement. Fill out the Service Reflection sheet and return it to Mr. Chapman in the IB Office when you come to school in August.
